Have you ever found a place that felt like home to you?
A place where you and your friends hung out that you couldn’t wait to get to on a Friday night?
For me these days, that place is Disney Springs.
When I first moved to Orlando five years ago on a dream, I had no money and couldn’t even afford an annual pass! Then Downtown Disney was my greatest connection to the parks that I so dearly wanted to be in, but couldn’t. What I thought at the time was simply my stand-in for the Disney magic, actually became something I treasure. And while I’ve had my pass now for a few years, those first years at Downtown Disney really cemented that world into my heart.
Watching the changeover was fascinating. I’d be out there almost every day, and almost every day there were differences. Green construction walls went up over night and moved and came down the same way. The musicians for a time were all compiled on one temporary stage they had erected over the AMC Fork and Dine fountain, and parking was the worst nightmare you could imagine. Still, Downtown Disney was special. There’s magic there, and yes, it’s Disney magic, but honestly, I feel like it’s more than that.
I believe Disney Springs holds the magic of the people there every day. I believe the music works its way into the ground and makes the energy of the place always have a creative buzz. I feel like anything could happen.
I’m a dreamer and I’ve spent a great deal of time dreaming at Disney Springs, from mornings at Starbucks watching the Characters in Flight Balloon lift off into the air, to the discovery of new and wonderful foods, to evenings shopping, laughing with friends, and listening to live music, I love everything about Disney Springs, it’s even inspired my latest fiction, Rockin The Springs.
Now let me share with you one of my favorite places. The energy is always different, the people all have stories, the food is amazing, and the entertainment as unique and special as Disney itself.
