Welcome to #SundaysOnParade!

We’re back to the East Coast at the Magic Kingdom for a street party. In 1985 and 1986, Magic Kingdom threw Mickey’s Street Party. The parade, which added an afternoon dose of Disney fun to Main Street, U.S.A., through fall 1986, featured a bright color scheme of pink, purple, yellow, orange and red, with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck appearing on the lead “party” float. What followed was a cast of 40 Disney characters that included Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear (“Song of the South”), Alice, Tweedledee and Tweedledum (“Alice In Wonderland”), friends from “The Jungle Book” and…

We’re celebrating another milestone in Disneyland history, the park’s 30th anniversary. A year long parade in 1985 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disneyland. This was in the same vein of earlier Character parades, with basic floats decorated in special anniversary colored flags signs and banners.

I hope no one packed their passports away just yet, we’re back at Tokyo Disneyland this week to see the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade which ran from 1985 to 1995.

The Disney stars are literally sparkling in this nighttime parade of lights and music. With Mickey and his pals, including characters from Aladdin, Toy Story and other Disney films,…

This week we travel back to Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 1984.

On the 50th anniversary of Donal Duck’s first appearance in ‘The Wise Little Hen’ in 1984, Walt Disney Productions decided to celebrate our favorite duck with parades in Disneyland and Wlat Disney World. A new parade was fashioned and the festivities were presented to those who could not attend on The Magical World of Disney which was hosted by Dick Van Dyke on CBS.

Does everyone have their passports ready? I certainly hope so, this week’s parade is taking us from 1983 Disneyland in California across the Pacific Ocean to 1983 Tokyo Disneyland!

The opening day parade for Tokyo Disneyland, the Tokyo Disneyland Parade ran from 1983 to 1988. This parade featured traditional and futuristic looking floats carrying our favorite characters along the parade route. There are even some appearances we don’t get to see in the states, like the vultures from The Jungle Book.

Are you ready for 1983? Well here we are at Disneyland and the park is featuring a new parade, Flights of Fantasy.

The Flights of Fantasy Parade was a daytime/nighttime parade that ran at Disneyland Park from 1983 to commemorate the opening of the newly-renovated Fantasyland. The parade feature scenes from Disney’s most fantastic animated films.
Due to it also being a nighttime parade, it replaced the Main Street Electrical Parade for that season.

Welcome to #SundaysOnParade!

This week we’re traveling back to Disneyland but this time it’s the Disneyland of 1981 featuring the diversity of the world.

*starts to hum a familiar tune* There’s just one moon and one golden sun and a smile means friendship to everyone.
That’s right, our parade this week celebrates It’s A Small World.

This parade differed from the “Parade of Many Lands” held in decades past in that it did not feature any authentic civic organizations, and was a daily character style parade. It featured Disney characters dressed in costumed…
